St Catherine monastery (hotel in Eilat)

Early morning pick-up. Cross the Taba border. After crossing the Border at Taba  we drive along the shores of the Red Sea and then through an ever-changing area of bizarre Sandstone-Formations to the Sinai High Mountain Range. Arriving at St. Catherine, a Greek Orthodox Monastery built by Emporer Justinian located at the foot of the Mount Sinai (Where according to the Hebrew tradition Moses received the Ten Commandments). The origins of this monastry extends to late antiquity and preserves up to date distinctive Greek and Roman heritage. The Church, that dates to the 6th century has never been destroyed and houses spiritual treasures such as early printed books. The Chapel of the Burning Bush was ordered to be built by Helena, mother of Contantine. After lunch in a Tourism Class Restaurant we drive back to Eilat, stopping at interesting sites on the way, should time permit.

  Included: One night (before or after the tour) at a tourist class hotel. All transport, visit as per itinerary,

   lunch, egyptian escort / guide, entrance fees.

  Not Included: Border fees & tips, drinks, personal insurance, entrance fee to the

   museum in the monastery (about $6 per person).

  The price does not include departure tax, visa and tips ($62 per person).

  The monastery is closed on Fridays and Sundays and orthodox Holy Days.

  Rates per person in a double room; single room supplement $50.

  High Season supplement $50 per person per night.

  Border fees may change due to currency rates exchanges.

  Certain nationalities require advance issue of visas.

  Option for extended stay in Eilat.
